What can I do on The Grid?

Being a member of The Grid means you get to socialise on the go. The Grid hooks you up with exciting things happening in your area. The chat service allows you to chat via Instant Message with your friends for much cheaper than a normal SMS. You can also SMS your friends who aren’t online to tell them you are logged onto The Grid. And if you don’t think that’s enough, The Grid maps allow you to get directions from point A to point B, all on your mobile phone.

Can I use The Grid to find my friends?

Yes, you can find out where they were when they last logged in. But remember that nobody can find you on The Grid without your active consent.

What is a Blip?

Content on The Grid is called blips. A blip can contain text, image or video that is uploaded to The Grid and tagged to a specific location. As a Grid user, you can view other people’s blips, see where they were dropped and find out interesting bits of information about a specific area. You can also drop your own blips and share content with others.

Can I receive calls while on The Grid?

Yes, your session on The Grid will merely be paused. Once you complete your call, you can continue as before on The Grid.

Can I advertise my business on The Grid?

Yes, you can and at the moment it’s free to do so. You can start by dropping a blip about your business/product or create a group for people to join. We recommend you play around on The Grid to see what potential exists to market your business.

Does The Grid offer multiple language support?

We are currently investigating incorporating multiple language support.

Who’s behind The Grid?

Vodacom has funded the venture and provides the infrastructure and resource support. With that being said, The Grid is not a typical Vodacom service in that it can be used on any network open to any person with a mobile phone.
