How does The Grid locate me?

February 16th, 2009

Hi, welcome to The Grid's User manual site, if you dont find what you are looking for please contact us here: Help. Thanks for visiting!

The Grid uses a network-positioning system that maps the location of your mobile phone according to the service provider’s towers. The towers are then used to triangulate the position of the mobile phone, but this is not as accurate as GPS which uses satellites. Three towers are required to do this using the signal strength from each tower. The accuracy of this triangulation method can range between a 1km and a 5km radius, depending on signal strength.
