How much does The Grid cost?

February 16th, 2009

Hi, welcome to The Grid's User manual site, if you dont find what you are looking for please contact us here: Help. Thanks for visiting!

There are no registration fees. Nada, niks, zip! There are only two initial costs, the first SMS to register is charged at standard SMS rates and then to download the application which is about 30c. Then standard data costs apply, meaning you will be billed by your network operator for the amount of data you download.

Internet on my phone, isn’t that expensive?

February 16th, 2009

The best thing to do is to buy data bundles, as it is the cheapest way to get access to the Internet on your phone. On average, costs range between R0.19 and R2.00 per MB if you’re using a data bundle. For instance, using the chat service costs less than 1c for every message sent.

How many mega bytes will I use while on The Grid?

That’s entirely up to you. Just remember that videos and images contain more data than simply sending a text message on The Grid. We’ve made the upload sizes as small as possible to keep the download costs low.
