Being a member of The Grid means you get to socialise on the go. The Grid hooks you up with exciting things happening in your area. The chat service allows you to chat via Instant Message with your friends for much cheaper than a normal SMS. You can also SMS your friends who aren’t online to tell them you are logged onto The Grid. And if you don’t think that’s enough, The Grid maps allow you to get directions from point A to point B, all on your mobile phone.

What is a Blip?

Content on The Grid is called blips. A blip can contain text, image or video that is uploaded to The Grid and tagged to a specific location. As a Grid user, you can view other people’s blips, see where they were dropped and find out interesting bits of information about a specific area. You can also drop your own blips and share content with others.

Vodacom has funded the venture and provides the infrastructure and resource support. With that being said, The Grid is not a typical Vodacom service in that it can be used on any network open to any person with a mobile phone.
